Baby ZL is 7 months old. And we have now known her for just over a month. When we first met her, she seemed tiny and a bit frail and so unsure of us and the world around her. Today, she is smiley, giggly, bouncy and chatty, although still a little uncertain [...]

Our new favorite Sesame Street character. She’s a bit obnoxious (but come on, so is Elmo!) and perhaps we wouldn’t be so fond of her if she didn’t have such a fantastic name. My little Zoe and I just found this video as we were playing around on You Tube. And by the way, she [...]

I went to work today. For the first time in over a month. It was weird to get up early and put fancy clothes on. It was the first time I’ve been away from Z for more than an hour since we took custody of her in Ethiopia. So yes, it was hard to walk [...]

We continue to be amazed at how fantastic ZL has done since we’ve been home. Our transition has gone incredibly smooth so far and I feel like we are all beginning to get quite comfortable in this new normal of ours. ZL continues to catch up so quickly in both her weight and her development [...]

More than Africa needs me. I’ve posted this video before, but now that I’ve experienced a small part of Africa for myself, I feel compelled to post it again. It rings so, so true and summarizes my thoughts on our experience in Ethiopia better than I could in 10,000 words. Video courtesy of The [...]

These days, the best medicine for a sick daddy is a little bit of this.
These days, I don’t mind so much that those slobbery fingers come out of her [...]

ZL had her first major meltdown today. At least her first meltdown that didn’t take place on an airplane. And the culprit? It seems it may have been this.
No, not Dolly. Dolly and ZL get along fabulously. See what I mean?
A closer look at what we think may have incited our meltdown.
That’s right. Adorable socks [...]

This child is so charming. And so photogenic. Matt got out the fancy camera equipment for ZL’s first little photo shoot. I know I’m biased, but I just can’t believe how beautiful she is. We’re having lots of fun. I’ll post more about our transition and her progress soon and all that [...]

I don’t want to jinx us, but so far our transition home has been quite smooth. Zoe Liremet is still sleeping wonderfully – 10 hours or so at night, 3 or 4 naps a day. She seems to be feeling better. And our incidences of projectile vomiting and nasty diapers are on the decline. We [...]
