Hi everybody. Matt and I have just launched this new blog, and hopefully we will have some interesting thoughts to share. We may write about our dog, careers, families, travel, hobbies, or general thoughts on life. We hope that we can keep you entertained, and keep our friends and family up to date with what’s going on in our lives. We have plenty to talk about, and could probably fill every blog post with stories about Dolly. However, the main reason we have started this blog, is to start a journal that we can keep and one day look back on, and remember what this time of our lives was like. Why start now? Well, we figured that the coming months are going to be some of the most exciting, possibly frustrating, but definitely most memorable times of our lives. What’s all the fuss about,
you ask? Well, we are excited to tell everyone that we have just begun the process of adopting our first child from Vietnam. It’s going to be a somewhat slow process…approx. 18-24 months before we travel to Vietnam to pick up our baby. Right now that seems like a lifetime, but in the meantime there is a lot of paperwork to complete and a lot of requirements that must be met, so I’m sure the time will pass before we even know it.
I’m sure there are many questions that you will have about how we reached this decision, and we certainly plan to be as candid as we can be. The first questions that likely come to the minds of those who know us are “why adopt?” and “why Vietnam?”. So, I’ll give you the quick answer to each of these up front. We have decided on adoption as our first choice for starting a family. Independently of each other, Matt and I both felt really drawn to the idea of a family built through international adoption, and have been talking about it in rather generic terms for a couple of years. In the last few months we came to the realization of just how long this process really takes, and decided it was time to get started
if this was something we were really going to do. After another period of research and discussion and prayer, we decided on Vietnam. As we researched our options, we continually felt drawn to this country and its culture, but most importantly – its children. We really believe that the “something” drawing us towards these decisions was God placing this desire in our hearts.
If you are interested in more information on international adoption in general, we have links to a few different sites that might be of interest to you. Thanks for taking time to visit our blog, and we hope you’ll check back regularly as we document our journey. Its going to be a wild ride!!

Guys, this is great news. Congratulations! I’m sure you’ll both make great parents. We just had our second boy yesterday (2/4) and we’ll be haeding home tomorrow. To make it convenient for us, I’d request that you adopt a two-year old so Jake will have somebody his age to play with when we visit Springfield. This site is a great idea.
I’m so glad you guys started a blog and what a great reason to start one! Congratulations on beginning the adoption process. I’m glad we can stay in touch with you guys this way.
